Sezzfilm was founded by Sezgi Üstün San in 2016.
Sezzfilm strives to develop and produce Turkish and international independent films, driven by a commitment to high-quality arthouse cinema.
As an independent production company, we collaborate with both critically acclaimed and emerging talents to create captivating feature films for a global audience, focusing on stories and talent that cross cultural borders. We believe that talent should not be limited by cultural, economic or linguistic barriers.
Meet the Producers:
Sezgi Üstün San
Born in 1978 in Istanbul, Sezgi is an Istanbul-based producer working across film and television. She studied Architecture at Yıldız Technical University and Media Studies at Middlesex University.
She began her career in the television industry and spent seven years working as a producer, including serving as producer on the Turkish adaptation of the television series Grey’s Anatomy. She later transitioned to feature filmmaking, focusing on director-driven and internationally oriented projects.
In 2014, she served as Executive Producer on Kış Uykusu (Winter Sleep), directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and produced by Zeynofilm, which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2016, she produced Tarla (The Field), directed by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu. The film was selected for the Istanbul Film Festival National Competition and had its international premiere at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
Continuing her collaboration with Ağacıkoğlu, she produced Son Hasat (The Reeds), a Turkey–Bulgaria co-production, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Centrepiece section.
In 2024, she co-produced Quiet Life, directed by Alexandros Avranas.
Sezgi attended the EAVE Producers Workshop in 2021 and is a member of the European Film Academy.

Özlem Özçelik
Özlem studied Film & TV at Istanbul Bilgi University between 2005-2010. During her education, she attended creative production & co-production workshops via MAIA workshops. After graduation, she started working with Zeynep Atakan of Zeynofilm as her assistant. Between 2010 – 2013 she was the coordinator at Yapımlab and at Zeynofilm where she also participated in the re-establishment of Se-Yap (Movie Producers’ Association in Turkey).
In 2012 she attended Sarajevo Talent Campus as Producer.
Between 2014 – 2017, worked in one of the biggest post-production facilities in Istanbul, 1000 Volt.
Since the establishment of Sezzfilm in 2016, Özlem joined Sezgi.
